Stevia – The natural alternative to sugar and other sweeteners
Stevia – The natural alternative to sugar and other sweeteners.
The plant called Stevia Rebaudiana is typically found in South America, and is also known as the “honey plant” or the “sweet plant” because of its naturally sweet taste.
The concentrate derived from the plant is mainly formed by Steviol Glycoside, which is approximately 300 times sweeter than household sugar derived from comparable processes. Since 2011, it has been cleared by the EU Commission for use in food and beverage products throughout Europe.
steviol gkycoside is not a chemical derivate, it is a composed by plant material.
The leaves of the stevia plant (Stevia Rebaudiana) and the steviol glycoside obtained through their processing have many striking advantages in comparison with sugar and artificial sweeteners:
No calories at all, to the contrary of sugar; they are 300 times sweeter than sugar, they can be used as a sugar alternative for people subject to diabetes, lactose-, fructose- and sorbit- intolerance.
